In early November, Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, tantalised his Instagram followers with the news that BTS' Jungkook was set to make his first solo guest appearance on the American late night talk show. This appearance was part of his promotional efforts for his successful solo debut album, Golden, which was released on November 3 and achieved record-breaking numbers. His single "Seven" has now been certified platinum in the United States for its sales and streams.

The last time he was at The Tonight Show, it was with his fellow BTS members so this being his first solo appearance was exciting for not just the star but ARMYs as well, who got to hear more from the pop star in the interview portion. He spoke candidly about the incredible international success both he and BTS achieved, his love for cooking, his fear of microwaves and even shared a slice of pizza with Fallon.

When discussing his triumphant solo debut, Jungkook simply expressed his gratitude to ARMY for their unwavering support, saying, "Frankly speaking, I was confident, but this is beyond my imagination. And I am very grateful to ARMY. If it weren't for them, I would not be what I am today."

Fallon also inquired about Jungkook's interests outside of music. The singer revealed that he enjoys simple pleasures like lounging in bed and has a strong affection for cooking. Fallon then took that moment to introduce Jungkook to his first slice of New York City style pizza. Safe to say, he enjoyed it, promising that he'll cook Fallon some Mak-guksu, a chilled Korean buckwheat noodle dish often eaten in summers.

The singer also joked about his fear of microwaves that he had since he was a kid as he was always "afraid it might explode". He said, "When I was young, I used to be afraid but now... still afraid," eliciting laughter from the audience. He also spoke candidly about the time he fell asleep on a livestream of 6 million viewers. The star regularly goes live to interact with fans and in one occasion fell asleep in the middle of broadcast. "I think my fans, ARMY, liked it because it was was something very unexpected but actually, it's a little embarrassing," he said.

Transitioning to more serious topics, Jungkook also revealed that while he never planned from the beginning for his solo debut album to be called, Golden. Instead, he was naturally associated with that term as it was a nickname coined by fellow member, RM and that when his mother was pregnant with him, she had a golden dream. Hence, it naturally came to mind when he made the album.

On the topic of a potential solo world tour, Jungkook remained pragmatic about the prospect, saying, "Of course, I want to do a world tour as a solo artist, but I don't think I have enough songs for that. So I want to complement them more and make more songs, and maybe when I'm ready, I can do the tour in full swing." He also revealed that he will be livestreaming a concert on November 21st and that he hopes people tune in for that.

If his live performance on 'The Tonight Show' is any indication, it is bound to be an outstanding event. Jungkook delivered his first-ever TV performance of the album's title track, "Standing Next To You," dressed in a dazzling black suit. Against a backdrop illuminated in golden hues, Jungkook effortlessly showcased his smooth dance moves and his velvety vocals.
