Introducing Kenzo-Dome, the Mid-90s Skater-Inspired Shoe by Nigo
The first sneaker drop from the Artistic Director since helming the Maison.
This summer, Kenzo is releasing the first edition of a series of sneakers designed by Artistic Director Nigo. Inspired by skateboarding from the mid-1990s, Kenzo-Dome marks the Maison’s foray into sportswear, and is named after the internationally renowned skate spot located on the grounds of Palais de Tokyo.
The shoe draws upon 90s skater aesthetics with its flat outsole and puffed-up tongue. A “KENZO Paris” logo is applied on the Napa leather-padded tongue as well as the heel, while the “KENZO” logo is engraved on the side of the outsole. The soft retro-look lining and padded collar adds extra comfort.
Balancing authentic skater culture with Kenzo’s high-fashion approach, the Kenzo-Dome campaign was shot at the Parisian skateboarding landmark, Le Dôme. Lensed by Frank Lebon, the images feature a gang of friends skateboarding with carefree camaraderie in the spirit of the 1990s.
The Kenzo-Dome is available in stores from June in suede or grained leather, and comes in a variety of classic colours and seasonal shades.
