Daniel Henney Has Tied the Knot with Japanese-American Actress Ru Kumagai

The American actor gained popularity in Korea for his role in My Lovely Sam Soon.

After almost two decades in the entertainment industry, Korean-American actor Daniel Henney has announced that he is now a married man. In an official statement published by his South Korean agency Echo Global Group, Daniel very recently exchanged vows with fellow Asian-American actress Ru Kumagai in an intimate wedding ceremony.

In a modern celebrity fairytale story, Daniel and Ru actually were tied up in a dating scandal back in 2018, when the two were merely friends. But that scandal eventually prompted the duo to give dating a go. And the rest, as they say, is history. The couple’s ceremony was reportedly a very private event, with only family members and close friends present.

 

To early Hallyu Wave supporters, Daniel Henney is not an unfamiliar name. After all, the actor who was born in Michigan in the States, rose to fame quickly for his role in the rom-com K-drama My Lovely Sam Soon in 2005, alongside co-star Hyun Bin. Since then, Daniel Henney has certainly made a name for himself in Asia and in the West.

 

He recently took on a major role in the 2023 screenlife thriller film Missing, the standalone sequel film to Searching (2018). He also holds roles in The Wheel of Time and Criminal Minds in the US. In Korea, Daniel Henney worked alongside his old counterpart Hyun Bin in Confidentiality Assignment 2: International. He also voiced Tadashi Hamada in beloved Disney film Big Hero 6
