Everything You Need to Know About Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift’s New Beau
On the way to the SNL afterparty, the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer was spotted holding hands with the Kansas City Chiefs star.
With the Eras tour in progress, Taylor Swift has been steadily drumming up interest from Swifties all over the world. The Eras Tour is the artist’s most expansive tour to date, and her surprise songs for each stop on the tour makes her performances that much more exciting. But lately, something other than her music has been attracting attention from fans. It’s her recent public romantic entanglement with Travis Kelce. Here’s everything you need to know about Taylor’s newest paramour.
He's an American football star
Travis Kelce plays in the National Football League in the US as a tight end. For those of us not too familiar with American football, Kelce’s position is an offensive part, and he can receive and carry the ball, as well as work as an extra blocker. He has been with the Kansas City Chiefs, since his third-round draft in 2013, throughout his 11-year career. The Chiefs won Superbowls LIV and LVII (played in 2020 and 2023, respectively), with Kelce on the team. Taytay’s beau also holds multiple NFL records, and is an 8-time winner of the Pro Bowl. It’s clear that Travis Kelce is quite the superstar himself.
He comes from a family of athletes
Travis isn’t the only athlete in the family – his brother, Jason Kelce, is a pro-footballer with the Philadelphia Eagles. The brothers famously played on opposing teams at Superbowl LVII, with Travis’ team taking home the win. The boys enjoy a close relationship, with Travis publicly stating that his jersey number for the Chiefs (#87), was inspired by his brother, as Jason was born in 1987. They even host a podcast together, called New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, paying homage to the city where they spent their childhood, Cleveland Heights in Ohio.
He is passionate about philantrophy
In 2015, Travis founded 87 & Running, a charity aimed at providing disadvantaged youths with resources, athletic programmes and enrichment activities. The foundation is based in Ohio, and works to empower youths through access to opportunities in education, business and the arts as well. His “Catching for a Cause” project taps on every catch or touchdown that the athlete achieves during games and raises money for the non-profit.
It all started with a friendship bracelet
When Taylor Swift took her Eras Tour to Missouri, Travis attended the show at his home stadium Arrowhead. The Chiefs player shared during an episode of New Heights that he even made her a friendship bracelet with his number on it for her, but he didn’t get the chance to hand it to her before or after the show. In case you didn’t know this, the friendship bracelet trend at Taylor’s concerts is inspired by the lyrics in her song You’re on Your Own, Kid from her 2022 album Midnights.
He invited Swift to a game
On the pair’s romance, the NFL star publicly invited Taylor to watch him play at one of his shows, and it’s been love in the air since then. The Anti-Hero singer has been to three Chiefs games since September, including that one game at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Sophie Turner in attendance as well. More recently, the pair headed to the live filming of Saturday Night Live together, where they both made surprise cameos during the show. The lovers also shared a few PDA-moments, with photographers capturing some hand-holding and kissing while on the way to the SNL Afterparty on October 15. So it seems that the couple is officially making their relationship known to the public, and we’ve got to say, we’re excited to see more sparks fly between the two stars.
