NCT's TEN Tops Global Charts With His Eponymous Solo Debut Album
His title track, "Nightwalker, with its dark and gritty music video has also been trending since its release this week.
After much anticipation, NCT and WayV member, TEN has dropped his first eponymous solo mini-album on February 13 this week — Marking the Thai singer, dancer and K-pop idol's first steps into solo stardom. Titled after the artist himself, the album, along with its lead single "Nightwalker," swiftly ascended to the coveted No. 1 position on the global iTunes album chart, dominating charts in 34 regions spanning from Europe, Australia to Singapore.
Similarly, the music video to his title track, "Nightwalker" was received with uproarious response, trending on Youtube's Music category across multiple regions and generating buzz and praise online for its dark and avant garde concept. Hailing from Thailand, the 27-year-old artist has solidified his reputation as a multifaceted talent, renowned for his dynamic performances within the upper echelons of K-pop. From his noteworthy beginnings as a rapper in 2016 with "The 7th Sense," TEN's journey has seen him emerge as a pivotal member of NCT, distinguishing himself through his mesmerizing dance prowess. Notably, he stands as the sole Thai representative within NCT, engaging in various subunit ventures, including NCT U and WayV, alongside his involvement in the acclaimed SuperM project group.
Reflecting on the transition from collaborative endeavors to solo pursuits, TEN shared insights into his creative process and the key differences each one had. “The process of preparing group and solo albums is different. During group activities, I usually think about how to interpret the songs that I receive and make it suit me, but this time, I thought a lot about what to do,” he shared. “I wanted to explore TEN through this opportunity because I didn’t know what I wanted to show or what kind of person I am. While preparing for the album, I thought every aspect was TEN.”

TEN's inaugural solo endeavour, "TEN," comprises six tracks spanning diverse musical genres, from Latin pop to pop punk and hip-hop. At a press event held at YES24 Live Hall in Seoul's Gwangjin District, he elucidated on his artistic intentions, stating, "I prepared a variety of elements because I wanted to demonstrate to many people the diverse charms and talents that I possess."
Ten also expressed his aspiration to explore even more diverse genres of music in the future as a soloist, “I enjoy alternative music. I also like it when hip-hop and pop blend together,” he said. “Since I haven’t explored many music genres alone yet, I believe I can show even more diverse sides of myself in the future.”
