‘Squid Game’ Actor Wi Ha-Joon To Star in Upcoming Romance K-Drama ‘Graduation’
‘Graduation’ will tell the story of a young fresh graduate from university determined to unite with his first love.
Actor Wi Ha-joon has been cast as the male lead in a romance-filled K-drama Graduation. The South Korean actor initially shot to stardom after playing Hwang Jun-ho, an undercover detective, in the hit Netflix series Squid Game back in 2021. While he is also confirmed to rejoin the cast for Squid Game 2, with Graduation, fans can expect to see the softer side of Wi Ha-joon’s acting prowess.
The plot of Graduation follows Wi Ha-joon’s character, Lee Jun-ho, as he returns to work post-graduation at the academy that he attended as a student of a prestigious university in Seoul. Spurred on by his old affections for his first love, the drama follows Jun-ho’s journey in his new workplace as he navigates these emotions as a young adult. South Korean-born Australian actress Jung Ryeo-won is currently in talks with producers about taking on the role of Jun-ho’s first love. Graduation will see the reunion of Wi Ha-joon and director Ahn Pan-seok, who also directed Something in the Rain (2018) which featured the actor as Yoon Seung-ho, the protective brother of Jin-ah, the female lead character played by Son Ye-jin.
While waiting for Graduation, fans can catch Wi Ha-joon in Disney+’s crime action series The Worst of Evil, with Ji Chang-wook, Im Se-mi and R&B singer BIBI. Other previous dramas that Wi Ha-joon starred in include Romance is a Bonus Book (2019) and Little Women (2022).
