Did You Know That the Olympic Torch Is Encased in a Louis Vuitton Trunk
This partnership highlights the LVMH's dedication to the global celebration of sport and excellence, ensuring that victory, indeed, travels in Louis Vuitton.
As part of the House's premium partnership with Paris 2024, the Olympic Torch is safely encased in its Louis Vuitton Torch Trunk. It symbolises LVMH's 170-year legacy in the Art of Travel and ensures the protection and elegant presentation of the Olympic Flame.
The exterior of the Torch Trunk is a nod to Louis Vuitton’s rich heritage, covered in the iconic Damier canvas, first introduced in 1888, with traditional brass protective corners and closures. Inside, it's lined with soft black matt leather that provides an additional layer of protection and it features circular sockets in the base and lid to firmly hold the torch in place as it travels across France. For presentation, the trunk transforms into a graceful display with doors that unfold and a hinged lid that reveals a beautifully embossed Paris 2024 logo.
In addition to the torch trunk, Louis Vuitton introduced meticulously crafted medal trays for the Victory Ceremonies. Created by artisans at the Beaulieu-sur-Layon workshop who specialize in leather craftsmanship, these trays also feature the same Damier canvas with matt black leather interiors. Designed to hold the Olympic and Paralympic medals crafted by jeweler Chaumet, the trays are a perfect epitomy of LVMH’s mission, “the Art of Crafting Dreams”, and its role as “the Artisan of All Victories” for the Paris 2024 Games.
The Olympic Flame will journey through France for the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay with more than 11,000 torchbearers passing the flame until the start of the Games. Some notable torchbearers are BTS member Jin, F1 driver Charles Leclerc, and French football star Henry Thierry, to name a few.
