The expansive D&amp;D style RPG game has dethroned The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the title of Metacritic's best-reviewed game of 2023

On August 3rd, the highly anticipated sequel to Baldur's Gate 2 dropped on PC and exploded in success as players immersed themselves in the vast and sprawling Dungeons &amp; Dragons style role-playing game, Baldur's Gate 3. The game boasts hundreds of hours of cut scenes and possible endings, promising hours of content for anyone wanting to escape in a rich and densely written fantasy world. Since its launch, it has been dominating Steam charts, peaking at over 800,000 concurrent players on August 6 and shows no signs of slowing down.&nbsp;
Looks like the critic ratings are the cherry on top as Baldur's Gate 3 now proudly holds the title of Metacritic's best-reviewed game of 2023, successfully dethroning The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. As of writing this article, the fantasy RPG from Larian Studios holds a remarkable score of 97 on the review aggregation platform, just one point ahead of Tears of the Kingdom's 96. Granted the scores may fluctuate seeing as the game is so expansive and reviewers likely need more time to get through all the content. Also, word around game journalists was that reviews codes were also handed out a little late owing to the changes to the release date.&nbsp;

Nonetheless, this achievement has not diminished the significance of Baldur's Gate 3. The developers have taken to Twitter to celebrate this milestone. Michael Douse, Larian Studios' director of publishing, posted a screenshot of the game's Metacritic page accompanied by an emoji depicting a person bowing, capturing the sentiment succinctly. Furthermore, Baldur's Gate 3's composer, Borislav Slavov, shared Douse's tweet with his own commentary: "Speechless... Happy... Grateful."
