Everything You Need to Know From Apple’s Scary Fast Event
iMacs and MacBook Pros are getting a facelift, thanks to Apple’s new M3 chip.
On October 30, Apple held their most recent product launch event – Scary Fast, a nod to the event taking place a day before Halloween. The event, which hinted at the drop of Apple’s latest speedy processing system, took place in the evening at 5PM compared to 10AM, the start time typical of most other Apple events. But those details aside, here are the key drops we picked up from Scary Fast.
With Apple’s Wonderlust event back in September, the world got updates regarding the newest iPhone, upgrades to the Apple Watch and developments for the latest iOS system. With Scary Fast, Macs took centre stage.
Apple unveiled the M3 chips, including the base M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. The new processing units will speed up processing functions, and come with an updated GPU that will optimise memory units that the device taps while performing tasks.
MacBook Pros will also get the M3 Pro and M3 Max upgrades, for the 14- and 16-inch models that Apple released last year. The MacBook Pros offer 22 hours of battery life and will be available in space black and silver, with the space black coming through with a new anodisation process that is supposed to reduce the appearance of fingerprints on your device.
If you use your laptop for lower-end processing, maybe the new MacBook Pro with the base M3 chip is what you need. Aside from its relative affordability, the 13-inch MacBook Pro offers users performance that is 60% faster, compared to the 13-inch model that Apple dropped last year. This MacBook Pro comes in silver and space grey.
We’re also bidding farewell to the Touch Bars of MacBook Pros past, as Apple fully transitions back into the physical keys from here on out.
The products released in the Scary Fast launch are up for pre-order and will be available come November 7.
