Dior Men

At Dior Men, this season was all about refreshing old icons, like the Dior Cannage motif that settled itself onto the key pieces from this collection. Kim Jones looked to his predecessors at Dior, namely Yves Saint Laurent, Gianfranco Ferré, and Marc Bohan, for a reimagined take on classics, true to the polished Dior name. Jones’ own spirit, however, really shone through his ability to dress up casual shorts with more elaborate pieces. Hued Cannage knits and button-downs augmented with jewels were paired with little sporty shorts for a balance between laidback and chic. From this collection, we especially loved the loafers that trod down the runway – a refined addition to any man’s shoe collection.

JW Anderson

Even in Southeast Asia’s heat, knitwear is always an option. JW Anderson’s collection is a testament to the growing craft, identifying more than 70% of his Spring/Summer collection to be knitwear. His nostalgia-packed collection showcases thick-knit vests alongside delicate deep-V sweaters with cut-outs. The cropped jackets from the runway are also a great way to layer up without burning up. Texturally, this collection is a treasure trove. Chunky layers interweave to form a geometric top, and folded corners on shirts spike the looks with a subtle edgy flair. If you’re looking for something more exciting to beef up your footwear lineup, you can up the ante with simple clogs similar to Anderson’s. I assure you, they’re comfier than they look.

Dries Van Noten

If you were to take away just one thing from this Dries Van Noten show, it’s this – if you’ve got it, flaunt it. This shoulder-baring collection was underscored by the numerous deep-V shirts and wide-neck knits that gave the models’ decolletages a breath of fresh air. The Dries show was also a masterclass in fabric-pairing. Fitted sheer fabrics sat atop structured gabardine pants, for a natural elongating effect. The extended herringbone coats were another star fixture in the collection, taking on an almost two-toned illusion while in motion. For the more audacious, you could take a cue from Dries and sport some bright jewel tones next Spring for a spirited start to the year.

Louis Vuitton

For Pharrell Williams, the late Virgil Abloh’s successor at Louis Vuitton, this collection was a witty celebration of all things LV. It was classic Damier and Damouflage (digital camouflage) galore, think Minecraft and 8-bit pixels but luxe. Playful but not immature, this LV collection brought to the fore a range of silhouettes. Draw some inspo from the ultra baggy culottes and oversized army-inspired coats that were put together with cosy knit sweaters, to spice up your looks. It’s hard to go wrong with a statement jacket, and the waxy, olive-drab green jacket works as a versatile closet staple that will serve for years. Louis Vuitton’s bags are always a must-grab, and this season’s range of Keepalls makes for a prime choice.

Kenzo

If you’ve not heard of City Pop, it might be time to update your playlists. The Japanese movement, which began in the ‘70s and '80s, has recently regained popularity among mainstream audiences, and it’s what drove Nigo for Kenzo’s Spring/Summer 2024 show. Following the Creative Director’s Japanese roots, the collection saw subtle nods to the kimono, through hakama-inspired pants and ties loosely inspired by the kimono-binding obi. Other styling highlights from the collection included the bright pink knit sweater (it’s 2023, time to go for that Barbie pink, fellas) and the pastel suits for a sprightly Spring. If you’re feeling stuck in a certain aesthetic, you can definitely borrow tips from rule-bending Japanese tailoring, that’s experimental without being overtly try-hard.

Loewe

From afar Loewe’s Spring 2024 collection may appear ordinary, but take a closer look and you’ll see that it’s all in the details. Waistlines have been pulled up far beyond the hips, for an extra-lengthened silhouette that screams swanky. Rather than steering clear of high-waisted pieces, the Loewe collection embraces them by envisioning the pants from the ground-level view, resulting in a fish-eye-type distortion of the body. Sparkly polo shirts also join the Loewe lineup, an adventurous upgrade from their plain counterparts found in every man’s wardrobe. Loewe’s runway just shows that little changes make a big impact on your outfits, like donning a chunky knit brighter than the sun or subverting your proportions with a tunic-inspired top.
