Celine Hommes’ Fall/Winter 2021 Collection Presents A Teen Punk Renaissance
Hedi Slimane presented Celine Hommes' Fall/Winter 2021 collection at Château De Chambord with a mix of youth-inspired regalia and punk-chic ensembles, presenting a new take on TikTok's popular e-boy style.
"Teen Knight Poem" comes to life in a short film featuring young horsemen protagonists galloping with their steeds as they showcase Slimane's newest creations. During Haute Couture Week Spring/Summer 2021, the equine creatures were seen all over the runway. For Fall/Winter, the Maison renews its interest in horses and presents its version of young Renaissance knights riding black and white Andalusian stallions – an austere image that begins with a group of riding squires led by a black flag bearing the Celine logo.
The new collection features gothic accents, with numerous pieces referencing silhouettes that defined subcultures of decades past, such as leather jackets, vests, bomber jackets, and raglan-shouldered coats. It also blends much-loved elements of '90s fashion with the dark, brooding elements of medieval times.
Slimane's passion for minerals and precious stones is reflected in the collection's showing of opulent embroidery, while the knights' knitted chain mail, handmade in Celine's Parisian ateliers, is applied to bomber jackets and corsets. A study of the colour palette also reflects the style of ceremonial dresses of the 16th century: black and brown with gold and silver accents.
