Cover Story: The Future is Sparkling for Thai Actor, Blue Pongtiwat
Another encounter with the sheepish smile and youthful charm of Blue Pongtiwat. This time, the Thai actor takes on a futuristic edge, as he embarks on an exploratory phase of his life.
A year ago, rising Thai actor Blue Pongtiwat graced the cover of L’OFFICIEL SINGAPORE, top of his game. He was the romantic lead in not one, but two newly released Thai series, Intern in My Heart and Ready, Set, Love. He had also just been named the first male Friend of Swarovski for Thailand. The golden boy in-waiting was shining at his brightest. A year later, the 24-year-old is back to front the February issue of L’OFFICIEL HOMMES SINGAPORE. Nothing much has changed; Pongtiwat kept himself busy in 2024 with undertakings in fashion — a well-known passion of his — most recently arriving in Singapore last month for the opening of the Tom Ford boutique in Paragon. But at present, he’s exploring new directions, searching for that spark that would ignite a bon-fide star. He’s young, so he has time. There’s no rush, even as we eagerly await his next act.
Hi Blue! We’re very happy and excited to work with you for this cover shoot. How did everything go on set?
Today’s photoshoot was so much fun! Everything went smoothly, and it is also my first time being on the cover of L’OFFICIEL HOMMES SINGAPORE. The shoot concept was totally new and different for me, so I really enjoyed it. I hope everyone will like it too!
Like most young people, we see that your off-duty look comprises of comfortable clothing like jeans, oversized tees and sneakers. What are some of your favourite casual pieces to wear?
It really depends on the moment — I have different favourites for different times. But what I truly love and wear often are my Swarovski bracelets. They add that little extra touch so my outfits don’t feel too simple. The two pieces I wear the most are the Dextera Bangle and Gema Bracelet.
A true Friend of Swarovski for Thailand.
I love accessories with a bit of a bling-bling vibe because they make my look feel more complete. On days when I’m not in a rush, I like to layer multiple pieces — necklaces, bangles, bracelets and rings. But if I’m in a hurry and don’t have time to mix and match, I usually just go with a bangle as my main accessory.
It’s also nice to see you in a perfectly fitted jacket and pants at events. How does a suit make you feel?
I feel cool and more mature when wearing a suit. Whenever I attend an event in one, I try to carry myself in a stylish and composed manner to match the outfit. I just want to present myself in a way that suits the look. I usually dress very simply in daily life, so wearing a suit makes me feel extra suave.
What is style for you?
I think it’s a unique signature for each person; everyone has their own distinct style. For me, I like to experiment with different styles — some days I want to look mature, some days I prefer a youthful vibe, and other times I go for a cute look. I enjoy dressing in various styles because it’s fun! Seeing myself in different looks makes life feel more colourful and exciting.
It seems you’ve mainly focused on fashion projects in 2024. Will you be returning to acting in 2025?
I’m really passionate about fashion, which was why I focused on those types of projects last year. But now, I’m starting to miss acting, so I’ve decided to take on acting projects again this year for my fans to enjoy and follow.
“I LOVE ACCESSORIES WITH A BIT OF A
BLING-BLING VIBE BECAUSE THEY MAKE
MY LOOK FEEL MORE COMPLETE."
Do you have any other hobbies or interests?
In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, working out, shopping, watching movies, and spending time with my family.
Thai pop culture has really exploded in the region in recent years. How do you feel about all the attention?
I’m really happy to see Thai culture and Thai talent being recognised on a larger scale. It’s great that more Thai people have opportunities to work abroad and help make Thailand more well-known — whether it’s through food, tourism, or other aspects. It truly makes me very happy.
We believe the future belongs to the youth. What does the future look like for Blue?
My goal this year is to try new things and take on projects I’ve never done before, so my fans can see a different side of me. I hope everyone will stay tuned and follow my journey. I also hope to visit my fans in Singapore more often in 2025. Thank you!
