Kim Jones Collaborates with British Artist Peter Doig for Dior Men's FW21
Peter Doig is the latest artist to collaborate with Dior men's artistic director Kim Jones. Known for capturing haunting landscapes in his pictorial work, Doig has built a solid artistic career over the past three decades. His unrivalled technique embraces the traditions of narrative painting, abstraction and contemporary elements of popular culture, notions that result in fascinating colour paintings. Under a truly moving gaze, the artist develops visual stories that return to man's relationship with nature.
Jones' creative work never disappoints, and has in recent years been characterized by carrying out a strong artistic charge, usually intertwining the world of fashion with art. His most recent collaborations were made with important figures in the art world such as Amoako Boafo and Kenny Scharf.
Doig was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1959, and grew up in Trinidad and Canada, and started gaining palpable cultural exposure to his work. In 1979, Doig settled in the city of London, England, to study painting. Since then, the artist divides his time between England and Trinidad, constantly reimagining the means to achieve deep meaning in art.
His exceptional work has earned him critical acclaim since the 1990s. Thanks to him, the conversation around painting took a complete turn, and his creative vision has been the subject of several retrospectives, in renowned museums around the world. In 2013, his exhibition No Foreign Lands, was exhibited with great success at the National Gallery of Aescia , Edinburgh, which later moved to the Musée Des Beaux-Arts in Montreal.
Doig will be in charge of raising the design proposal for Dior menswear Fall-Winter 2021, which will take place on Friday, January 22, 2021.
