All The Best Looks From Fendi Fall/Winter 2017 Men's Collection
For Fall/Winter’17, Silvia Venturini Fendi brought out optimism and hope in a collection that perfectly toed the line between sensible and sensational.
Fendi is moving towards the modern man in ways many Italian luxury labels would, or have, struggled to achieve. This season, we see Silvia Venturini Fendi bring out a hopeful menswear collection replete with colour (yes, for Fall/Winter!), unabashed slogans and a lighthearted mix of tailored pieces coupled with sportswear with athleisure leanings.
The crux of the clothing for the FallWinter season is relaxed and cheery. The show notes present a manifesto of sorts about creating a vocabulary using keywords – hint: these appear on the bags. Venturini Fendi really is at her best when she works with optimism and eclecticism. This intent shows through the delivery of clothing that is simple and concise – as much as they are Fendi, you they’re believable articles of wearable garments.
Case in point: the puffer coats and jackets with strategic hits of contrasting colour, graphic pullovers, driving jackets in mostly muted colours – there are the requisite furs, of course. It all manages to strike a balance of sensible and tantalisingly approachable.
Of course, Fendi is a brand better known for its bags than anything else – and Venturini Fendi did not disappoint. The message of optimism for the collection really shone through the playfully sloganeered bags and accessories. While logo-mania can feel passé and like a cheap commercialist grab, this feels like a light-hearted and fun way to approach slapping text on things.
Slogans everywhere on bags and accessories made up a new sort of vernacular for the playful Fendi character of the season.
