Louis Vuitton Men's Announces Pre-Fall 2022 Capsule Collection by Virgil Abloh
The house's latest capsule collection, "Daybreak," by the late Virgil Abloh will launch in-stores in March.
The second chapter of Louis Vuitton's Men's Pre-Fall 2022 Collection by Virgil Abloh is deeply evocative of function and the way Abloh views its place in clothing. The collection blends elements of workwear with sportswear, a fusion that feels and looks incredibly natural.
The late designer explained about the collection, "What I do is an analysis of a generation: what do people buy and why do they wear it? That question naturally creates an equal interest in tradition as it does in changing tradition." Set with the backdrop of the Firminy Complex in the Loire region of France, built by Le Corbusier, a known design hero of Abloh's, we see his interest in blending elements of the traditional with the modern, exemplified by his take on the classic three-piece suit in the collection.
New shapes are combined with formal silhouettes rendered in classic tones. Jackets, wrap skirts, trousers, and monogrammed cardigans have been slightly altered in Abloh's vision to create entirely new and inspired pieces. Black denim suits with blue contrast pockets and zig-zag patterns inspired by mountain ranges. Abloh interprets the maturity of the house in a playful way, with relaxed cuts and loose materials as his flirtation with whimsy shines through in this collection.
