Breitling’s Redesigned Avenger Collection Takes Flight
The new range includes a 44mm chronograph, a 44mm automatic GMT and a 42mm automatic ticker.
Breitling’s ties to the skies date back to the 1930s, when third-generation founder Willy Breitling formed the Huit Aviation Department, dedicated to creating precision aircraft instruments and pilots’ chronographs. Its expertise in the field of military aviation is then carried through to renowned timepieces like the Navitimer, the AVI Co-Pilot, the Emergency and the Avenger. Today, the lattermost receives an update to become even more unstoppable.
Situated at the forefront of airborne adventures for over 20 years, the Avenger is known for its bold design, exceptional resilience and next-level functionality. The refurbished range includes a 44mm chronograph, a 44mm automatic GMT and a 42mm automatic, all centred around sleek aviation detailing, wear-resistant materials, and the addition of a powerhouse movement in the chronograph models.
The commanding force behind the Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 is the Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01, which comes with up to 70 hours of power reserve, COSC-chronometer certification and a five-year warranty. Core models pair coloured dials (in blue, green, black or sand) with rotating 60-minute stainless steel bezels. Dial details are also streamlined with baton indexes and a wingless “B” logo, allowing the red-tipped chrono hand to stand out. Perhaps the most ostensible change is the new square pushers to facilitate smoother timekeeping operation, together with the grip pattern on the crown and bezel.
The Avenger Night Mission chronographs offer an even bolder look: in eye-catching yellow or stealth black carbon fibre dial. Here, case and bezel are constructed entirely of scratch-resistant ceramic, with caseback, crown and pushers in solid titanium. Dial numerals also provide easy readability, especially on the all-black model.
On the Avenger Automatic GMT 44, a red GMT hand points out Zulu time along a 24-hour rotating bezel. Cased in steel with a black or navy dial, the watch is powered by the COSC-certified Breitling Calibre 32 with up to 42 hours of power reserve and a two-year warranty. The Avenger Automatic 42 possesses all the robustness of its brawny siblings in a trimmer 42mm profile. It comes in steel with a choice of black, navy or camo-green dial, and is powered by the COSC-certified Breitling Calibre 17 automatic three-hand movement with up to 38 hours of power reserve and a two-year warranty.
All the Avenger models in the new range come with 300m water resistance and a choice of military leather strap or stainless steel bracelet. Check out the timepieces in action on the wrists of Switzerland’s Patrouille Suisse aerobatics team in the video below:
