The Dior Men’s Fall 2023 Collection Goes from Dune to a Dream
Part Dune-inspired and part destination dressing, the Dior Men’s Fall 2023 show was a solid set of travelling staples
Just mere days after the showing of the Dior Men’s Fall 2023 show, there have been several discussions on the internet about what it takes to bring a brand from homeground to distant lands. On one side of the camp, discussions have been made that a show is only stellar if a designer takes inspiration from a location and imbues it into their work; even better, if they engage the locals of the land to form the show itself. On the other, we, and fashion fanatics from Twitter to far-flung forums have agreed that good clothing only works from the runway to real life if it looks “in-place” when it is shown in a foreign land.
While the Dior Men’s Fall 2023 show has all the motifs of Kim Jones’s current era at Dior Men — the flou versus the tailoring, streetwear codes from Paris’s right bank, and the stylistic cues of men who dress like boys and vice versa — Cairo, where the show was held formed a backdrop for what Jones’s himself has been doing for the past few seasons: crafting collections that can form a man’s intercontinental wardrobe.
Here, some of the key looks from the show.
