Kendrick Lamar Is Chanel’s Newest Brand Ambassador
The rapper has been named Chanel’s latest ambassador and the new face of its eyewear campaign.
Kendrick Lamar has officially joined the ranks of Chanel’s inner circle as the brand’s latest ambassador. The announcement comes alongside a new campaign shot by photographer Karim Sadli, with Lamar front and center in black Chanel sunglasses and a dark coat.
“Chanel has a timeless legacy and that is always something I can get behind. Since they don’t make clothes for men, I knew it would have to be glasses,” Lamar said. While Chanel fashion president Bruno Pavlovsky says, “We strongly believe in eyewear and its potential.” He continues, “More than a simple fashion accessory, eyewear is part of the Chanel allure and is regularly seen on the runway.”
At 37, Lamar joins a select group of men who have represented Chanel on the world stage—names like Timothée Chalamet, Pharrell Williams, and G-Dragon. But while others have leaned into the label’s more traditional elegance, Kendrick brings something different that’s sure to leave an impression.
Lamar’s history with the house began at the 2023 Met Gala, where he wore a custom quilted leather bomber jacket designed by then-creative director Virginie Viard. A few months later, he and longtime collaborator Dave Free were tapped by Chanel to design the set for the brand’s January 2024 haute couture show.
