Moncler X Salehe Bembury Collab Brings Luxury to the Great Outdoors
The Italian label has teamed up with American designer, Salehe Bembury for a collection that infuses luxury into functionality
The Moncler Genius x Salehe Bembury collection emerges from a shared admiration for outdoor heritage, infusing luxury with performance. This redefined outdoor collection delves into the realms of colour, shape, and functionality, all while incorporating Bembury's distinctive style.
The campaign aims to humanize luxury by finding a balance between Moncler's DNA and the outdoors' rich heritage. Bembury envisions a collection that encapsulates an exceptional blend of these two environments, a concept rarely witnessed in either space. Renowned for his sneaker designs and impeccable street style, he now steps into the realm of ready-to-wear fashion, alongside footwear and accessories.
Named Moncler ēquipements, this collection draws inspiration from an archive mountaineering line by Moncler from the late 1950s. Bembury reinterprets the brand's original design codes through his creative language, resulting in pieces that serves in both purpose and style. The collection's palette takes cues from nature, with vibrant burnt oranges, sunset corals, serene moss greens, and earthy muted browns directly sourced from nature. “Moncler ēquipements is an exploration of palette, shape, and utility. From extensive time spent in the wilderness, I have developed a deep appreciation for nature and the elements that come with it,” Bembury explained.
His designs reflect authenticity which are then bolstered by Moncler's technical expertise, ensuring the functionality of each piece. By incorporating practical utility pockets on collarless puffer jackets and pairing GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ parkas with cozy teddy fleeces and leggings, the collection invites a diverse community to embrace the freedom of nature.
The range also includes caps and beanies, and the unique dual perspective of Genius co-creation is evident as Bembury's signature 'grain' thumbprint merges with Moncler's iconic quilting on padded outerwear, vests, and lighter layers.
