K-Pop Sensation, Stray Kids Grace the Met Gala for the First Time
The South Korean group made their Met Gala debut wearing custom Tommy Hilfiger.
Stray Kids etched their names in Met Gala history by becoming the first K-pop group to attend the distinguished fashion event. The members arrived wearing overcoats with distinctive floral detailing in the form of buttons and cuffs. The outer piece was then slowly removed, revealing the octet in dashing suits. Dressed in custom Tommy Hilfiger, the members Felix, I.N., Lee Know, Han, Hyunjin, Seungmin, Changbin, and Bang Chan charmed in looks reflecting Hilfiger’s signature hues of red, white, and navy blue. Each suit was meticulously tailored and matched the distinctive allure of each member.
Felix was dressed in an all-white ensemble with gold buttons, while Lee Know opted for a white dinner jacket paired with black trousers. I.N. and Changbin, dressed in navy suits, had accents of red piping and distinct emblematic buttons.
Seungmin and Bang Chan were both dressed monochromatically but each had a unique silhouette that complemented their individualistic personalities. Han and Hyunjin made a statement in bold red suits that were of the same mold but were also styled differently on each member. This was consistently kept in the mind of Tommy Hilfiger as he designed the ensembles for each member, aiming for a cohesive vision while letting each person's greatest attributes shine.
"Dressing all eight Stray Kids—a global force in pop music—for a Met Gala red-carpet experience has been one for the books,” Hilfiger said in an interview with Vogue. “One of the special things about Stray Kids is each member has a completely individual style, and they all complement each other perfectly. This enabled us to design a sartorially cohesive yet distinctively personalized ensemble for them, reflecting their different personalities. The outfits blend our classic American cool style with floral and botanical details that pay homage to the story by J.G. Ballard and the time flower at the center of the tale. It was tailored with a distinctive Tommy twist to make this one night to remember.”
